This online course reviews current knowledge in the safety and best practices in minimally invasive surgery; particularly surgical approaches to laparoscopy, fluid management, and electrosurgery in gynaecology. This program supports specialists in gynaecology in their knowledge of these aspects of minimally invasive surgery with an individualized understanding of patient risks and benefits.

Learning objectives:

  • Enumerate various distending media for hysteroscopic surgery;
  • Define and recognize fluid overload;
  • Implement strategies for preventing fluid overload;
  • Initiate monitoring for and management of initial fluid overload complications.

This activity is an Accredited Self-Assessment Program (Section 3) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and approved by the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada. You may claim a maximum of 2.0 hours for this course (credits are automatically calculated).
