Uterine fibroids in primary care: Practical evaluation and management for family physicians

12:00 PM to 01:00 PM

Session Details

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
  • Recognize common fibroid presentations and understand how fibroid size and location influence symptoms such as heavy menstrual bleeding, bulk symptoms, and fertility concerns;
  • Evaluate patients with suspected fibroid-related symptoms using appropriate clinical assessment and first-line investigations;
  • Differentiate when fibroids are likely the cause of symptoms versus an incidental ultrasound finding;
  • Apply a practical management approach—including medical therapy, monitoring, and referral for procedural or surgical options—based on patient symptoms and reproductive goals.
