Biography
In her professional discipline of Obstetrics and Gynaecology she is seasoned in leadership, teaching, research, clinical proficiency, curricula and program development, student supervision and Mentorship, community development and advocacy. Her leadership journey begun with the Kenya Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society where she participated in legislative Bills Development; professional clinical scope of practice for health care providers; policy formulation/reviews; strategic planning; guideline development and standard operating procedures; partnerships/ networks and collaboration with various donors, development partners, implementers, civil societies and communities. She was and active technical advisor to the First Lady H.E. Margaret Kenyatta in the Beyond Zero Initiative, Kenya She subsequently headed the African Federation of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and instrumental in strategic plan development, improving the cohesion through South - South collaboration, formation of community of practice in maternal health care and conducting of multi-country projects. She is currently the chairperson of the World Health Organization partnership in maternal, neonatal and child health. She has published over 100 scientific papers in peer reviewed journals and written two scientific books. Her areas of interest in women’s health include: leadership; adolescent and youth health; technology and advocacy.
