Dr. Wendy V. Norman, is a family physician and clinician-researcher with a family planning focused practice. She holds the Chair in Family Planning Public Health Research from CIHR and the Public Health Agency of Canada; is an Associate Professor, and Director of research training, in the Department of Family Practice, with Associate Member appointments in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the School of Population and Public Health, at the University of British Columbia (UBC), in Vancouver, Canada. Dr. Norman is an Honorary Associate Professor in the Faculty of Public Health and Policy at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), in London, UK; and a Scholar of the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research in Canada. In 2015 Dr. Norman was awarded the prestigious Guttmacher Darroch Award for advancing sexual and reproductive health policy research. She holds a Masters of Health Science from UBC and completed Medical School at Queen’s and is currently undertaking a PhD in Public Health & Policy at LSHTM. Norman’s research program and staff, located within BC Women’s Hospital, seek to improve family planning access, quality of care, and health policy, and have supported more than a dozen recent policy changes related to contraception or mifepristone provincially and nationally.
