Speaker Profile

Dr Helen Pymar is an Associate Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Director of the Early Pregnancy Termination Program and Early Pregnancy Assessment Clinic (EPAC) at Women’s Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She completed a Fellowship in Family Planning and Contraception (Magee Women’s Hospital) and a Master’s in Public Health (University of Pittsburgh) in 2001. Dr Pymar received her medical degree in 1994 from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario and completed her residency at Western University London, Ontario in 1999. She has an interest in ultrasound in pregnancy, best management of early pregnancy complications, ER utilization for early pregnancy complications, abortion provision and contraception. She has published on contraceptive implant removal and was involved in the writing of the implant portion of the Canadian Contraception Consensus guideline. She is currently providing virtual training on implant removal and insertion.
