Speaker Profile

Dr Helen Pymar is an Associate Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Director of the Early Pregnancy Termination Program and Early Pregnancy Assessment Clinic (EPAC) at Women’s Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She completed a Fellowship in Family Planning and Contraception (Magee Women’s Hospital) and a Master’s in Public Health (University of Pittsburgh) in 2001. Dr Pymar received her medical degree in 1994 from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario and completed her residency at Western University in 1999. She has been a member of EPAC since 2006. She has created algorithms, and intake and ultrasound forms for the expansion of EPAC. She has visited EPAC sites in Canada and the United Kingdom. She has researched patient satisfaction with EPAC, hCG to predict ultrasound findings, and will be studying the impact of expansion of the EPAC program on ER visits across Winnipeg. She has been performing ultrasounds in early pregnancy since 1998.
