Dr. Lynn Carole Murphy-Kaulbeck, MD

 

Biography

Dr. Lynn Murphy-Kaulbeck is a Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist with over 20 years of experience and an Associate Professor at Dalhousie University. She earned her MD from McMaster University, completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at McGill University, and her fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at Dalhousie University. Her academic background also includes a diploma in nursing, an Honours degree in Psychology (University of Ottawa), a Master of Science in Community Health and Epidemiology (Dalhousie University), and a Master of Management in International Health Leadership (McGill University). An active member of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC) since residency, Dr. Murphy-Kaulbeck has served on numerous committees and has been on the Board of Directors since 2019. She chaired the Governance Committee and began her term as President in June 2024. Throughout her career, she has held several leadership roles, including Board Chair and Past President of the New Brunswick Medical Society, Medical Director of Perinatal NB, and Department Chief of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Medical Director of the Women’s and Children’s Program, and Division Head of Maternal Fetal Medicine at the Moncton Hospital. Dr. Murphy-Kaulbeck has served on the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada’s Maternal Fetal Medicine Exam and Specialty Committees and has been an examiner, accreditation surveyor, and Site Medical Education Director. She also contributed to the development of Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick. A strong advocate for women’s health and governance excellence, Dr. Murphy-Kaulbeck is dedicated to advancing clinical care, supporting future physicians, and strengthening leadership within the SOGC. She lives in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, with her husband, George, and has two adult children, Ethan and Anna. She is a founding member of Friends of Kilayo, a charity supporting education for girls.
