Opening Reception

Halifax’s newest event venue, Cunard Centre, will be the site of this year’s opening reception. The Cunard Centre is located at Pier 23 as part of the Halifax Port Authority’s Seaport redevelopment. Guests can watch as
ships manoeuvre through the busy Halifax port. Families and participants are invited to attend as part of their registration package. (Thursday, June 18, 18:00 – 19:30)

Maritime Lobster Feast

From the late twenties to the early seventies, Pier 21 was Canada’s ‘front door’ to over a million immigrants, refugees, troops, wartime evacuees, war brides and their children. You will have the opportunity to tour the exhibit hall, then we will move on to a lobster feast dinner followed by some of the best down east entertainment Canada has to offer, the Barra MacNeils. This event will cost $150.00 per person with a $50.00 contribution going to the CFWH (with a charitable tax receipt for $50.00) (Friday, June 19, 18:30)

Please note: For those with special dietary restrictions there is a BBQ chicken or Vegetarian option available but only if you notify us at time of ticket purchase.

Resident Fun Night

Overlooking the Halifax Downtown Waterfront, the Lower Deck Tap Room will be the site of one of the most popular SOGC events, the Resident Fun Night. (Saturday, June 20, 20:00 – 24:00). This event is free to participants of the Resident Professional Development Program, Junior Members and Medical Students, $15 per person for all other guests.

Experience Halifax’s past and present by visiting the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, or a multitude of other wondrous attractions that the city offers.

Outdoor Enthusiasts

Enjoy the beautiful Halifax outdoors. Some activity suggestions include sea kayaking/rafting, golf or hiking. Remember to make time to explore the many provincial parks and trails, go out on a harbour tour or take a nature & whale watching cruise. Many more activities can be enjoyed on a day trip.

Children’s Camp

For the second consecutive year, SOGC will be contracting KidScenes to run our subsidized day camp during the ACM. The camp will run daily during the meetings. Several exciting trips currently under consideration include the Citadel, the Discovery Centre, and the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic.  The price will be $30.00 per day per child.
