Medical Management of Uterine Fibroids
The medical management of uterine fibroids is an evolving practice. As novel therapies are introduced, clinical practice guidance has been updated to provide evidence-based recommendations on the evolving role of these agents in clinical practice. This program reviews the role of medical therapy in the management of uterine fibroids. The Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC) provides guidance for The Management of Uterine Leiomyomas (SOGC CPG #318).1   Additional SOGC guidance of relevance to this topic includes: Abnormal Uterine Bleeding in Pre-Menopausal Women2 The Management of Uterine Fibroids in Women With Otherwise Unexplained Infertility3   “Until recently, medical management options for uterine leiomyomas have been of limited value because of their moderate efficacy and/or associated adverse effects.
