Medical Student Program

SOGC Medical Student Program

The next medical student program will be held in-person at ACSC from June 11-13th in Edmonton, Alberta! This program is designed to benefit medical students by exposing them to hands-on workshops and seminars that enhance their awareness and understanding of the profession of obstetrics and gynaecology. It is an excellent opportunity to learn about hot topics, ‘a day in the life’ of an obstetrician gynaecologist, to present a scientific or artistic poster, and to build networks and relationships.

To Participate in the 2024 In-Person Medical Student Program:

  • You are required to be an active student member of the SOGC. If you are not currently a member, please click here to apply.
  • You must register for the Annual Clinical and Scientific Conference; you will have the opportunity to participate in all aspects of the full conference in addition to the sessions specific to the Medical Student Program. Please click here to register for the ACSC and be sure to select ‘Medical Student Program’ as your registration option.

OTHER IMPORTANT DETAILS:

  • Space is limited to 40 participants; a waitlist will be generated once registration is full.
  • The SOGC is in the process of securing low-cost accommodations for medical students in partnership with the University of Alberta. More updates to come.
  • Participants are required to present a scientific or artistic poster at the ACSC’s poster session with prizes for the top poster in each category.

Speak with the Residents Week

Each year, the SOGC Resident Committee hosts a week-long series of teleconferences that are open to all Canadian medical students. The calls are organized by region, with resident representatives from each ob/gyn program in Canada attending the calls. Residents will provide information about their respective programs, and be available to answer questions from callers.

This is an opportunity for students to have assistance throughout the very difficult process of obtaining appropriate opportunities, applications, and ensuring the right fit as a future resident within each ob/gyn program.
