Medical Students

Interested in a career in obstetrics and gynaecology? Ob/gyn is a unique specialty combining medical and surgical skills.

Medical Student Program

The SOGC extends a special invitation to all medical students who have an interest in ob/gyn, as well as to midwifery students, to attend the Medical Student Program at each Annual Clinical and Scientific Conference.

This program is designed to benefit students through hands-on workshops and seminars that enhance awareness and understanding of the profession of obstetrics and gynaecology. In addition, students are able to meet with ob/gyn residents from across the country and will have the opportunity to present a poster. Students from all Canadian universities are invited to attend the Medical Student Program. Forty students will be selected at random to participate in the program from a pool of applicants. Applications are accepted starting January 2020.

Speak with the Residents Week

Each year, the SOGC Resident Committee hosts a week-long series of teleconferences that are open to all Canadian medical students. The calls are organized by region, with resident representatives from each ob/gyn program in Canada attending the calls. Residents will provide information about their respective programs, and be available to answer questions from callers.
