The winter 2022 all-virtual medical student program will focus on providing advice to students on how to prepare for their CaRMS interviews, tips on how to boost their CV, in addition to hearing past experiences from new and experienced obstetricians/gynaecologists.

Medical Student Journal Club

This student-led journal club is an opportunity for medical students across the country to meet every two months to review impactful papers and research in obstetrics and gynaecology.

Through attending these journal clubs, students will learn about literature in the field and collaborate with like-minded students. They will also develop critical appraisal skills and a wider knowledge of various methodologies and research supporting clinical decision making.

These sessions will be hosted once every two months through Zoom. The format of the program will consist of two 25-minute sessions including a presentation of the selected article followed by a discussion of related topics. Where applicable, a physician in the field will be invited to participate in the discussion.

The article to be presented and discussed will be sent via email one week prior to the journal club for that month. The upcoming journal club dates are:

  • January 20, 2022, 7:00-8:00PM (General gynaecology, Gynaecologic oncology)
  • March 24, 2022, 7:00-8:00PM (Urogynaecology, General obstetrics)

Speak with the Residents Week

Each year, the SOGC Resident Committee hosts a week-long series of teleconferences that are open to all Canadian medical students. The calls are organized by region, with resident representatives from each ob/gyn program in Canada attending the calls. Residents will provide information about their respective programs, and be available to answer questions from callers.
