Biography
Dr. Rabi is an associate professor of Pediatrics at the University of Calgary and has been working as a staff Neonatologist in Calgary since 2003. His primary research focus is oxygenation during transition at birth and in the newborn period. Publications range from observational studies and randomized controlled trials of oxygen concentrations used in the delivery room to multicenter clinical trials examining different oxygen saturation target ranges for preterm infants in the NICU. Through his work on pulse oximetry, he became interested in critical congenital heart disease screening and currently co-chairs a committee tasked with implementing a universal screening program in Calgary. Dr. Rabi holds patents for pulse oximetry technology in the US, Japan and EU. Over the last 10 years, Dr. Rabi has contributed to several international treatment recommendations for newborn resuscitation through his work on the International Liaison Committee for Resuscitation and these treatment recommendations are incorporated into the Neonatal Resuscitation Program.
