Biography
Dr. Sarah Smith was born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan and grew up on the prairies. She completed her undergraduate BSc in Chemical Engineering specializing in biochemistry at the University of Saskatchewan. After a brief stint as an engineer, she entered into medical school at the University of Saskatchewan. During medical school, she undertook research in neonatal resuscitation, gestational diabetes, and gynecologic cancers. She graduated in 2016. Dr. Smith is currently completing her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Saskatchewan in Regina. She is involved with research in contraception, stillbirth, and minimally invasive gynecology. She is actively involved with the SOGC as the Chair of the SOGC Resident Committee 2019- 2020, Resident Representative on Academic Council, and Director of the SOGC Board. She resides in Regina with her husband, toddler, and Labrador retriever. Dr. Smith enjoys taking in the diverse Saskatchewan landscape. When she is not working, she can usually be found outdoors: running, canoeing, camping, or skiing (depending on the season).
