Biography
Lois Donovan MD FRCPC, Clinical Professor, University of Calgary; Endocrinologist, Departments of Medicine and Obstetrics and Gynecology, Alberta Health Services, Calgary Zone; Medical Director of Diabetes in Pregnancy. Lois is a clinician who out of frustration for lack of evidence has also become a clinical researcher with a focus on diabetes in pregnancy and thyroid function and thyroid disease in pregnancy. Her research focuses on ways of improving pregnancy outcomes in women that have type 1 and type 2 diabetes and their children. Her research also focuses on determining the best diagnostic and treatment thresholds for gestational diabetes and thyroid function during pregnancy to ensure evidenced based clinical decision thresholds are used so that maternal and child health is optimized. She is also an avid Cross Country skier who is grateful for the invitation to come and be part of this meeting and enjoy some Cross Country skiing while she is here.
