Biography
I was born in Montreal and did my undergraduate BSc in Genetics, my PhD in Biochemical Genetics, and medical school all at McGill University. My PhD thesis was entitled, "Biochemical and Ultrastructural Studies in Dominantly Inherited and Drug Induced Cataracts". I graduated with the class of Medicine 1981 at McGill. I then did my residency in Ob/Gyn at Dalhousie University, and received my FRCSC and FACOG in 1986. I was on active staff at the Victoria General Hospital and Grace Maternity Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia from 1986-1993. I moved to Toronto in 1993, and hold a university appointment at University of Toronto, and a hospital appointment at North York General Hospital. I had a busy office clinical practice until 2009. I now work entirely at the hospital, where we do just over 6000 deliveries per year, with a level 2 nursery. I am also involved in genetics the amniocentesis. I have given many invited talks on various topics in Ob/Gyn, including topics around Menopausal symptoms and Hormone Replacement Therapy , Pap Smears & LEEP, Post Partum Hemorrhage, Contraception, Management of Fibroids, Obstetrical care at High Altitude in Nepal and Tibet, and Gynecological Care of the Breast Cancer Patient. I am involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical students, and on various hospital committees. I regularly attend SOGC meetings in both English and French. I have been a regional committee member for Ontario region since 2007, a member on the Finance Committee since 2010 and are the president designate of the SOGC.
