President
Dr. Nick Leyland, Hamilton, ON
Dr. Leyland is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. He is Chair of the University Department of OB/GYN and is Chief of OB/GYN for the Hamilton Health Sciences. Prior to taking this position he held the position of the Medical Director of the Women's, Children's and Family Health Program and is the Chief of OB/GYN at the St. Joseph's Health Centre. His clinical and research interests concern the provision of and the improvement of access to minimally invasive reproductive surgical options for women. Dr. Leyland and his colleagues at McMaster have a two year comprehensive research and clinical fellowship training program in endoscopic surgery.
He is the current Co-Chair of the Clinical Practice Committee, Gynaecology, for the SOGC.
Dr. Leyland completed a Master's of Science in Health Care Management from the Harvard School of Public Health. These skills have been utilized to investigate and improve operating room throughput in our specialty and to facilitate the creation of a Canadian endoscopic surgical curriculum for residents, fellows and practicing gynaecologists.

Dr. Claude Fortin, Lachine, QU
Having received his diploma in medicine from Laval University in 1972, Dr. Fortin completed his residency in obstetrics and gynaecology in the program of McGill University in Montreal.
Certified specialist in 1977 he established a private practice at Lasalle and Châteauguay as well as being part time clinical teacher at the Royal Victoria Hospital.
His current university appointment is assistant professor of
ob-gyn at McGill University.
In 1989 he spent 6 months in San Francisco to develop an expertise in Endoscopy mainly in surgical hysteroscopy techniques. Thereafter with the support of some colleagues he contributed in the development of diagnostic and surgical hysteroscopic workshops and teaching programs across Canada as well as many international meetings and master surgical sessions.
Dr. Fortin contributed in the writing of many abstracts and articles related to gynaecological endoscopy as well as being an investigator in many research projects related to endometrial ablation techniques, fibroids and on coming hysteroscopic sterilization technologies.
Since the beginning of his practice, Dr. Fortin has been involved in administrative activities inside the AOGQ and the SOGC.
Having terminated a 2 year term as president of AOGQ Dr Fortin is currently Head of Endoscopy Unit at Lasalle Hospital and actual President of SGEC (Society of Gynecological Endoscopy of Canada).

Executive Director
Dr. Sukhbir Singh, Ottawa, ON
Dr. Sukhbir Sony Singh is currently the Director of Minimally Invasive Gynecology at the Shirley E. Greenberg Women's Health Centre at The Ottawa Hospital. He is also an Assistant Professor with the University of Ottawa Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Upon completion of his medical and residency training at the University of Western Ontario (MD 2000, FRCSC 2005), he completed fellowships in advanced reproductive endosurgery at the University of Toronto (2005-2006) and the University of Sydney (2006-2007). As a result, he has developed a focused and nationally recognized tertiary level clinical practice in advanced operative laparoscopy and hysteroscopy.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Singh is also Executive Director of the Canadian Society of Minimally Invasive Gynecology (SMIG).

Ciaran Goojha, Vancouver, BC
Dr. Ciaran Goojha received his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland. From 2004-2009, he completed residency in Ob/Gyn at the University of Saskatchewan (FRCSC 2009).
He subsequently completed a 1-year fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynaecology with Dr. John Thiel in Regina, SK. He returned to Saskatoon for one year in a tertiary care group practice and as a Clinical Lecturer in Department of Ob/Gyn. Interests include minimally invasive fertility preserving surgery, endometriosis, pelvic floor dysfunction, and hysteroscopic sterilization.
He has been involved as a preceptor in surgical masters courses for total laparoscopic hysterectomy. As well as being involved as a surgical teacher for residents, he acted as a preceptor for numerous staff gynecologist, attaining privileges in advanced laparoscopic techniques.
He is currently working as a locum in Vancouver, BC.
