67th Annual Clinical Meeting

Welcome message from SOGC President

Dear colleague,

Throughout this program you will see images showcasing the spectacular union of metropolis and mountains which can only be found in Vancouver. I don’t imagine it would be hard to convince you that Canada’s west coast is an exciting place to spend a week. Vibrant neighborhoods and expansive green spaces can be explored by foot, bike or kayak. Art, shopping, exotic flavors — it’s all there for the taking.

Yet, from June 21 to 25, the city will merely be a fantastic backdrop for Canada’s premier event in obstetrics and gynaecology. What is it that makes the SOGC’s Annual Clinical Meeting so worthwhile? Time and again, feedback from participants such as yourself tells us it’s the quality of our scientific program and the chance to have your voice heard.

Last year nearly 1,000 professionals, each committed to translating evidence-based learning into improved outcomes in practice settings, attended our Annual Clinical Meeting. This year will again be an opportunity to network with your peers invested in women’s health, share experiences and enhance the skills and knowledge of our profession.

Please, consider joining us for the Society’s Annual Clinical Meeting. Beyond our wide selection of symposia, conjoint sessions, post-graduate courses, and best-practice and sub-specialty sessions — including many hands-on learning opportunities — this year presents a unique opportunity to examine Aboriginal women’s health care, at home and abroad. June 21 is National Aboriginal Day, and we will open the meeting with a full-day International Indigenous Women’s Health Symposium, focused on addressing inequities and providing culturally-safe care.

I strongly believe that when so many motivated and gifted minds come together at our Annual Clinical Meeting each year, the result is a meaningful, positive impact on both the health of our patients and the health of our profession. This is how we will continue to move forward.

I hope to see you in Vancouver.

Sincerely,
Ahmed Ezzat, MD
President, SOGC
