Junior Member Grants

Junior Member Elective Fellowship Grants

The Junior Member Elective Fellowship Grants are intended to assist Junior Members in pursuing elective training in obstetrics and gynaecology during their residency program.

Application deadlines

November 15: For (future) electives taking place between January 1st and June 30th (of the next year)

May 15: For (future) electives taking place between July 1st and December 31st (of the same year)

Award

A varying number of grants ranging from $2,500 to $3,000 are awarded to the top ranking applications to assist in covering expenses incurred while participating in an elective program. Grant recipients will be recognized at the Annual Clinical Meeting's Awards Ceremony.

Only one application form is to be submitted to apply for all available Junior Member Elective Grants. The distribution of awards is contingent upon the availability of funding in unrestricted educational grants.

Eligibility

• Applicant must be a Junior Member of the SOGC in good standing at time of application.
• Applicant must be enrolled in a residency training program in Canada.
• Elective training must be held in Canada, unless the chosen program is not available in Canada.
• Training must be four weeks minimum.
• Only one grant per elective may be granted.

The elective must be completed within the 12 months following receipt of the first portion of the grant. A final report (with summary of expenses) is required within three months of the completion of the program to receive the final portion of the grant.

Selection

The selection committee is composed of representatives from the SOGC, the Junior Member Committee and the Promotion of the Specialty Committee. Submissions are evaluated on the overall merit of the traineeship.
